If your goal is to work within corporate travel planning then you are probably looking at positions that require you to work within a Human Resources department as that is where it is handled most of the time. (This involves planning travel for the employees of a company which includes, but is not limited to, accounting, reimbursements, coordination, making sure the traveller is abiding to company policies etc.). Therefore, the simplest advice would be to apply for positions in HR where you can do travel planning.
In my case, having travelled a lot and frequently definitely helped my profile for working within this field as well as having a professional customer relations background.
