How do you stay focused when your trying to build something since you have varying fields of expertise?

Answered by Lukas Paskauskas, engineer, programmer & marketer

I am not sure I would call it expertise. Expertise requires by definition one to be capable of producing above average results without putting in any active mental effort. That, depending on factors such as IQ, frequency of exposure, and guidance can take anywhere between 5-10 years to develop.

However, I always try to stick to what I start learning for at least 3 months. It is something that the CTO of the startup in which I worked in taught me. I also had a chance to attend some seminars by some high-end corporate consultants and they told us the same thing:

Pick a subject and actively learn it for a few months. That is enough time to at least be aware of what you don't know.

And today not knowing what you don't know is a good place to be. Answer is often a google search away.
