Certainly, we see tremendous amounts of organic follower growth right now. In fact, it is almost completely organic. People still discover topics through hashtags, and thus accounts as well.

In addition, the explore page seems to be taking hashtags into its algorithm.

Taking your competitors pictures and copy paste their hashtags is a good way to find great hashtags. :)

Of course, if you want to outgrow, you will have to set your own trend. Meaning, that copying competitors is a strategy with an expiry date. But when growing, it is a great way to have results without much effort.
