I think it varies depending on the offer, but in general:
Putting the right message in front of the right audience through the right media.
Message is the offer. Do you sell the course upfront, do you offer something for free or do you have a tripwire? Do you come across as a scamy person?
Audience is also a tricky part. There are all these correlations between interests. You have to figure those out soon, as it is not long since your primary acquisition channel is not producing results anymore. For example, can we sell to people who follow "Suits"? Requires to do quite a but of research before you can answer these questions with confidence.
And even if you do, you will need to create different message for these different audiences! How do you make sure that is not overly time consuming when you just started growing?
And it is also important to think about the media through which you reach people. Of course, search is ideal, but who can start with SEO in a competitive market? I think it makes sense to start with advertising and then do SEO on a side, to ultimately have it as your primary acquisition channel... But before you do that, do you advertise on mobile or desktop? Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram?
