Various reasons.
As becoming a digital nomad is a challenge for most people, I'd say that many are motivated by the fact that they are no longer excited by their lives at home and want to experience different places and cultures.
Another reason might be geo-arbitrage which is a concept that means traveling to a low-cost destination in order to decrease your expenses, while making the same amount of money working remotely.
