How do you deal with finances/withdraw money in different places around the world with your main bank account being in your home country?

I have managed to open bank accounts in a few of the countries I've lived in lately. However, that's not always possible. Sometimes I've relied on services like MoneyGram or Western Union because they were the cheaper option to get cash. Getting an ATM card in which fees are reimbursable is the best option out there if you can do that. It all depends on the country though!
