To me the decision to become a digital nomad came really naturally - at the age of 19 I was invited to attend a really big entrepreneurship conference in Kuala Lumpur, during which I spent 7 days in Malaysia, 4 days in Singapore and 3 more days in Indonesia. I took my computer with me on that trip and didn't have any problems keeping up with work.
Once I came back to Europe and life got a little boring, I naturally asked myself: "If I could travel in Asia and keep up with work for 2 weeks, why can't I do it for 2 months, 2 years or even indefinitely?". The next thing I knew, I was on a plane to Bangkok which began my four-year-long-and-going travels around the world as a digital nomad.
I think the reason a lot of people have these fears and insecurities about becoming nomads is that they see it as something incredibly special, something that only a certain group of people can do, something that requires years of preparation, etc., when in reality it's nothing like that.
In reality it's really simple - if you can make money remotely (as a full-time employee, part-time employee, freelancer, consultant, entrepreneur, or whatever else), put your computer in your back-pack, buy a one-way flight ticket to anywhere it is you want to go and... simply go there! Once it gets boring, go somewhere else, and then somewhere else again. Then come back home, then leave again. Or don't. As long as you can make money remotely, it's all up to you :)
