I think one of the biggest downsides of traveling continuously, is that you will have difficulties to form long-term friendships.
Even if you travel slow e.g. 3-6 month in any one location, chances are that the turnover - meaning people arriving and leaving- will be so high that you will never be able to hang out with a certain person for more than 2 - 3 month.
Of course, keeping in touch becomes easier and easier with WhatsApp, facetime, and Facebook but having connections in your daily life that you have known for a long time is sth that many digital nomads are missing.
In addition, I think settling into routines can become difficult. Depending on how fast you move, work responsibilities can sometimes be affected.
E.g. If you are only staying for 1 month or less in a place - you will have just settled into your apartment, figured out where the nearest supermarkets and restaurants are and want to start cracking down on your work assignments when all of a sudden you find yourself on the move again.
Of course, that's completely depending on you and how you choose your destinations, but I find myself often wanting to see so many new destinations at once, that I find it difficult to build up a routine in order to get work done.
